NotesToPaper® Edition 3 - The next generation
Edition 3 of NotesToPaper® adds even more power to Notes
NotesToPaper has drastically changed the possibilities available to developers as far as print output for Lotus Notes respectively Lotus Domino are concerned. The newest version of NotesToPaper adds to an already powerful package.
Edition 3 - top features
Edition 3.0 of NotesToPaper has been enhanced in three key areas. Data exchange, rich-text support and available languages.
The new version provides export interfaces to the standard data exchange format XML as well as exchange format for the MS-Office based Windows world - RTF. Any NotesToPaper report can be converted to any of the following file formats: XML, RTF, DIB, EMF, JPEG, EMF, DIB, HTML, MHTML by the standard product and to the PDF format by use of an optional add-on filter. NotesToPaper reports (and the data they contain) can now be used in a multitude of other applications without making changes to the Notes applications necessary, as the export filters can be accessed either via the printer selection dialogue presented to a user or via Lotus Script.
The extended rich-text support includes graphics and OLE objects stored in Notes rich-text fields, image resources maintained in the database design; computed text may now be used in reports and “hide flags” are observed. Font-mapping, the replacement of one font within a Notes document by another for report creation, is now also possible.
As far as the internationalization is concerned, NotesToPaper is available in 7 languages. The core product, both designer as well as run-time environment, can be installed in Danish, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. NotesToPaper’s own viewer, which may used for e.g. Domino server based web-access of reports, is available in 18 languages and is no longer an OCX control but simply two files which can be copied to any directory which is in an operating systems search path.
Edition 3 – there’s more
That however is not where it ends. There are numerous other additions to the feature list. Print jobs can now be named to provide easier administration and split into parts to allow even faster print output. Print output can be offset in x- and y-direction in order to be able to adopt report output to heterogeneous network requirements without the need to edit report layouts. The WYSIWYG-preview window is now completely configurable including show/hide for each and every button and menu option included in the window as well as the possibility to preset the zoom, size and position of the window as it is presented to the end-user. When installed on a Domino server, NotesToPaper now provides a “server-mode” and autonomously deactivates all on-screen output, thus providing a faster conversion of reports originally designed for client use. There are two new object types for use in reports, a chart and an HTML object. The HTML object will allow the use of any HTML formatted information in a report or e.g. run-tim
e access to HTML information on a companies intranet. The chart object allows the use of nine different chart types, both 2- and 3-dimensional in reports and thus allows data to be visualized as well as reported. There are four new MSI barcodes and optionally two 2-dimensional barcode formats, PDF417 and Maxicode. Reports can now be categorized, grouped, sorted, additional descriptive information to a report can be stored in the report and images can be embedded in the project file, all in order to simplify report administration in any multi-developer environment.
And there is still more, lots more. Changes to the integrated designer to allow for faster development, performance optimization of the run-time client to generate even faster output. Changes in detail e.g. a preview window that closes via the escape key, Notes-like and major changes such as e.g. the ability to use an unlimited number of sum- and user-variables.
Test drive the new version of NotesToPaper and add more power to your Lotus Notes applications. |
